Dear Ole Tyme Customers:
Light rain in the Salinas Valley early this week will increase disease pressure as harvests near completion. Additional rain is expected later this week as storm systems pass north. Cooler temperatures will help reduce insect activity and improve texture in remaining crops. In the Huron region, production is nearly finished, and the focus has shifted to the Southwestern Desert regions.
Yuma harvests will gain momentum, with full production expected by late November. After a warm fall, cooler temperatures and strong winds have slowed growth in the desert, with light lettuce ice reported in colder valleys.
Lettuce and leafy green supplies are lighter due to lower densities, puffy heads, light hearts, and seeders in early fields. Tender spring mix and baby leaf items will have light production, with cold temperatures affecting growth and quality. With cooler weather expected, light production may continue through November, leading to supplies with lesser texture and shorter shelf life.

Thanks,
