Asparagus
Asparagus
Fri, September 27th, 2024
Dear Ole Tyme Customers:
Asparagus supplies remain extremely limited and are not meeting demand. Southern Baja has experienced over a week of temperatures exceeding 100°F, causing asparagus to go dormant. We hope production will increase in the coming weeks to lower prices. Meanwhile, Peru is also facing high temperatures and reduced output, particularly for larger sizes, and is affected by a port strike, leading to decreased supplies for the U.S. market.
Expectations:
- The asparagus market is expected to be volatile for the next two weeks due to widespread shortages.
- Supply levels this week and next are anticipated to be around 30-40% of normal.
- Improvement in supplies is expected the week of October 13th.
If you have any questions, please reach out to your Sales Representative.
Thanks,
Ole Tyme Produce
