Dear Ole Tyme Customers:

Green bell pepper market is steady at elevated levels on both coasts. Overall supply of green bells are limited. Colored bells out of Coachella are also winding down; demand exceeds supply.

  • California green bells have moved to the Bakersfield area; peak sizes are large and medium, overall light supplies to start
  • Georgia is coming to an end sooner than normal and NC hasn't quite started just yet ( harvest looks to start in about 10-14days)
  • Eastern demand has shifted over to CA, putting further upward pressure on markets
  • Colored bells are much higher; California Desert is suffering from low yields due to heat-related pressure
  • Good quality fruit is commanding higher prices
  • Canadian hot house partners are supplementing with offshore fruit to help cover demand

Expectations: Expect active prices thru early July as we transition to the Central Valley and other local growing regions.
