Dear Ole Tyme Customers:
Pacific Northwest storage onions will wrap up in the coming weeks, with supplies still showing good quality. Meanwhile, fresh crop onions from Mexico, Texas, and now the California desert are ramping up, with all colors available and good quality reported.
As we transition from storage to fresh crop onions, customers may notice differences:
- Storage onions (Aug–Apr): Cured for longer shelf life, with thick skins and milder flavor.
- Fresh crop onions (Spring–Summer): Higher water content, more pungent, with lighter, flakier skin and shorter shelf life
Though fresh onions may appear less polished, they’re a solid seasonal choice—harvested and shipped quickly to maintain freshness.
If you have any questions, please reach out to your Sales Representative.
Thanks,
