Crownless Pineapple

Crownless Pineapple

Fri, May 2nd, 2025

Dear Ole Tyme Customers:

Costa Rican shippers are facing tight supplies and high demand for crownless pineapples.

  • Crownless pineapples are in short supply due to labor, sizing needs, and shipping delays.
  • Weather issues have impacted fruit development, especially larger sizes.
  • European demand is drawing volume away from the U.S. market.
  • Pineapples take 18 months to grow, limiting short-term supply solutions.

What to Expect:

  • Prices are rising and changing daily.
  • Contracts are prioritized; no new ones are being accepted for now.
  • Substitution with crowned pineapples may be necessary.
  • Mexican pineapples are a possible alternative.

If you have any questions, please reach out to your Sales Representative.

Thanks,
