Dear Ole Tyme Produce Customers:
UPDATE: Limes
The Persian Lime Growers and Packers Association (COPELP) announces that extreme heat and drought are severely affecting the primary lime-growing regions in Mexico. See public statement attached.
The ongoing severe drought, combined with higher than usual temperatures, is expected to impact the upcoming lime harvest. The drought has led to a significant drop in crop yields, meaning fewer limes will be available for export to the United States. Additionally, the quality of the limes may be affected, with potential variations in size, color, skin thickness, and shelf life.
There may be adjustments in the quantities available for orders, with lower availability of 175ct and larger, higher availability of 250s, 230s, 200s
Expectations: Prices for the rarer large limes are higher, and the trend is expected to persist, with the color quality of Mexican limes potentially continuing to decline.
